The WPCC x GoDaddy
Contributor Day Appreciation Zine
The Contributor Day Appreciation Initiative reflects The WPCC and GoDaddy’s shared commitment to supporting independent contributors and creating space for inclusive participation in WordPress.
Contributor Days turn online collaboration into in-person connection and make space to welcome new contributors. Contributor Days are core to the work, and to WP culture.
Behind the scenes, Table Leads make it happen. They volunteer before, during, and after the event to plan, guide, and integrate their team’s Contributor Day efforts.
For self-funded contributors, taking on a Table Lead role requires extra challenges. The practical costs of attending a WordCamp, travel, lodging, and missed work, add up, especially for flagship camps.
Recognizing the leadership and contribution efforts of Table Leads, even in small ways, affirms the value of their efforts. Feeling valued encourages continued leadership, and public acknowledgement nurtures a culture of appreciation in and for the community.
The WPCC’s Contributor Day Appreciation Initiative is presented in partnership with GoDaddy. This is what it does:
Public Recognition Campaign
→ Offers well-deserved appreciation
→ Raises awareness about the labor of contribution, especially in unseen and undervalued roles.
Self-Funded Table Lead Stipends
→ Supports independent, neutral contribution
→ Makes community leadership more accessible.
The WPCC’s partnership with GoDaddy directly supports self-funded contributors, activating GoDaddy’s mission in WP “to make opportunity inclusive for all”.
// building connection
During Contributor Day, Table Leads help teams focus their collective efforts on specific projects, issues, or discussions. Whether contributors join in person or remotely, Table Leads support productive collaboration, so teams stay organized, engaged, and aligned. These focused interactions strengthen team relationships and deepen contributor engagement, creating connections that last.

// building community
Contributor Day Table Leads play a vital role in growing and sustaining the WordPress contributor community. They serve as mentors and guides, welcoming new contributors and onboarding them, often even helping them earn their first badge. This hands-on orientation creates meaningful engagement and strengthens contributor pathways. And since positive early experiences often inspire contributors to return, these interactions directly support the long-term health of the project.
