FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 25, 2026 — The WP Community Collective (The WPCC) is extending the State of the Community survey through July 17, 2026.
Since the survey’s launch on May 27, more than 350 people have shared their perspectives on the state of the WordPress community. By expanding the original timeframe, The WPCC hopes to give more members of the WordPress ecosystem the opportunity to participate before the results are compiled and published prior WordCamp US 2026.
The State of the Community survey is the first independent, community-wide effort to study how people across the WordPress ecosystem are feeling about the WordPress open source project, its future, and the forces shaping it. Questions include overall sentiment toward the project and community, the impact of artificial intelligence, and the importance of open source values.
“The goal of the survey is to understand how the greater WordPress community is feeling about WordPress. In order to do that, we want to hear from as many people as possible. Our first push didn’t reach deep enough into the community, so we are holding the door open a little longer and expanding our promotion to make sure the entire community has the opportunity to participate.
Sé Reed – CEO, The WP Community Collective
Much of the expanded push will focus on the global WordPress community, including being sure people know that they can take the survey in Spanish, French, Japanese, Hindi, and Portuguese.
The State of the Community survey is now open through July 17, 2026 at 23:59 UTC -11 at: https://thewpcommunitycollective.com/state-of-the-community
Results at WordCamp US
Following the survey’s close on July 17, The WPCC will compile the responses into a public report summarizing what the community is experiencing, identifying trends, and surfacing insights that can inform how organizations, contributors, and leaders show up for the WordPress open source project and the people who make it possible.
The report will be released prior to WordCamp US in Phoenix, with the intention that the findings become part of the community’s in-person conversations.
